Liebster Award Nomination

Hi PKP friends,

I woke up this morning to the wonderful news that I was nominated by Jasmine of The Dots of Teaching, for the Liebster Award!!! The Liebster Award is an award for new bloggers that have potential and content and also have less than 200 followers.

I am so honored and grateful for this nomination. Thank you Jasmine for seeing the potential in this little blog!

As part of being nominated, I will answer eleven questions about this nomination and will nominate eleven bloggers that have less than 200 followers.

Here we go!

1. Why and How Long Did You Start Blogging?
I started blogging on March 17, 2013. My birthday was approaching (on the 19th) and I wanted to make it memorable with a special gift that you just can't buy anywhere. My firsts blog posts, were a little all over the place....I was learning as I went. But, never stopped blogging! The main purpose of this blog was to connect my students' families with our daily instruction and activities, while recording my teaching adventures and experiences!

2. What one word sums up the heart of your blog and why?
PARTNERSHIP! That is the word that best describes my blog. Like the title reads, I want to create a solid partnership with my families. I want for them to feel as part of the classroom even though they are not physically present. I want them to be involved and be actively participant in this journey.

3. Is there something you learned late in your blog journey you wished you knew before?
Oh yes! I recently learned about linky parties, which I love! I also learned varied ways to link with others and join all social media to attract more traffic and readers. This has helped me tremendously in networking with other professionals in this wonderful field of education and better myself as a teacher and as a facilitator.

4. What is your favorite past time other than blogging?
I truly enjoy being a Girl Scout leader. When I was in the search for a troop in my area and was not able to find one, I became one! With the support of a wonderful co-leader we put together a Daisy Scouts troop with adorable 4 and 5 year olds. We have fun going on field trips, meetings, and planning our next adventures.

5. How many hours per week do you dedicate to your blog?
I spent on average of 7-9 hours per week. My time goes into downloading the photos from my iPad, then into Power Point and then into the blog. I love blogging and I would love to be a full-time blogger when I retire.

6. What category of blog posts do you enjoy the most?
I love everything early childhood! I enjoy reading about early literacy in early childhood education as well emergent writing. Being a bilingual Pre-K teacher this is where I spend most of the time in my classroom. I also enjoy the fun events the wonderful bloggers put together like the Scavenger Hunt this past summer.

7.Where does your blog inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from my students! I am always on the search for ideas and activities to facilitate their learning and engage them everyday. The inspire me and push me to do my very best every day. Most of my TPT resources are inspired by them as well. If I see a trend in my classroom that needs to be adressed, I put myself to work and create a product to help them meet their goals.

8. Which post that you've written are you most proud of?
I am very proud of the post Happy New {School} Year! This blog post was all about self-reflection and self-evaluation as a teacher. It may not have been my most popular post, but it is definitely one that I keep close to my heart. Many of us make resolutions every year, and why not make resolutions for ourselves as teachers?!

9. Is there any post you've been planning to do but have been postponing it for awhile now?
Out of my 128 blog posts, I have one still on draft and working on it. During my very first year of teaching, my mentor teacher used to do a Kelsey's Adventure activities with her class. Kelsey was the class mascot. The students would take the stuffed animal on their vacations, outings and special family events. They would bring back Kelsey back along with photos to share their adventures in class. Through the years, Kelsey has been to Brazil, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, and India. He has also been at our local farmer's market, dentist office, pumpkin patch and to ski at Big Bear Mountain.

10. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
I love everything about blogging, but my favorite aspect would be the connection I am able to make with our families and readers. Sometimes my students go home at the end of the day and try to explain something to their parents and they may forget important parts. Through the blog the parents can take a look and read about our week and everything we are doing in class and the readers can relate with the posts and even implement some of the ideas in their own classrooms.

11. Which recipe, project, or idea on my blog would you be most likely to try yourself?
I would love to make the fabric pumpkins featured on your blog. I think this would be a great idea to do with my Girl Scouts.
